Commissioned in February 2005, the luxurious True North is one of the finest expedition cruise ships in the world. Six expedition tenders ensure that guests can experience pristine wilderness areas up close and in small groups, and to add yet another dimension to the adventure, she sails complete with her very own Bell 407 helicopter! With the capacity to carry 6 passengers in air-conditioned comfort, the helicopter provides a unique opportunity to witness the grandeur of wild landscapes and discover your own special Eden, otherwise inaccessible. A maximum of 36 guests are accommodated in a choice of three cabin styles, each with en suite facilities, in-house entertainment and direct dial satellite telephones. Most Staterooms contain king size beds (which may be converted to singles) and large viewing windows. In the Twin cabins, roomy single beds and 2 portholes provide a bright airy feel. Equipped with state-of-the-art maritime systems, an Internet cafe and large panoramic windows, True North offers the discerning traveller the ultimate in comfort and style when exploring the most remote corners of the globe. An observation lounge overlooks the bow, providing commanding views of the vessel’s forward movement. The unique indoor/outdoor bar is the perfect place for a sunset cocktail and your gourmet chefs prepare fine meals served in a spacious and fully air-conditioned dining lounge. Luxury expedition cruising at its finest. True North is based in the spectacular Kimberley region of NW Australia from March to September each year. During early October, she heads west of the Kimberley - out to the remote, pristine coral atolls of the Rowley Shoals and associated reefs. In late October, True North travels across the top of Australia from Darwin to Cairns before embarking on a season in the idyllic islands of Papua New Guinea during November and December. From late December through January True North may be available for charter in such destinations as the Great Barrier Reef, Sydney, New Zealand, Tasmania and other approved destinations throughout Australasia. February is usually set aside for annual refit in Perth, Western Australia.
