What a night! Last Friday the 6th of December, we held a beautiful Christmas carol concert to raise money for the SNSM Antibes lifeboat service. We sold out of all of our tickets and in total to raise a whopping 2267.41 euros!
We are very proud to say that one of our directors at bluewater, John Wyborn, took part by singing in the concert. John is part of the Riviera International Singers group, who were singing the carols at the concert. The carols were Christmassy and wonderful! Also they were sung in English - with French and Latin classics too.
Before the doors opened at 6.30pm, there was a queue down the cobbled street leading up to the cathedral. The concert had a great turn out. Families and friends came and joined together in the elegant cathedral of Antibes to celebrate Christmas and get into the festive spirit! Everyone gathered, men, women, children, friends and family - to sing along, enjoy good company and raise some money for a good cause.
After the concert, glasses of mulled wine and sausage nibbles were served to over 200 people, courtesy of Emma from So-Sij which was very popular!
We want to thank everyone who helped out with the concert and we are happy to say that this amazing amount of money will go towards helping our local Antibes lifeboat service. Bluewater has been supporting the SNSM - Antibes Lifeboat for the past three years, by organizing various events to generate both awareness and funds, as without help from all of us, this vital part of our yachting community would not survive. The lifeboat relies entirely on donations. It is manned by a volunteer crew - who give their time and risk their lives for no financial reward. They are on emergency call 24/7, 365 days of the year.
