From the 3rd of July until the 14th of August every Wednesday night throughout the dates, Cannes throws this amazing music festival. The beach is filled with stages, beer tents, outside bars and crowds of people in the sea and on the sand dancing and raving to the festivals great bands and DJ's that they have lined up for the evenings events.
Tickets are €15 per night and can be purchased online or at the entrance of the event for the same value, if you are looking to be attending all of the 5 events you can buy a ticket for €50 which gives you access to all of the concerts.
The five dates over the months of July and August have been created to celebrate and represent the mainstream of electronic music by bringing lots of fans of the genre of music together and making it accessible to a large amount of them by using the beach and charging low prices. Les Plages Electroniques is also an ecological festival and passes a percentage of its profits to charities.
If you are a frequent festival goer or if this will be your first one, this is going to be an event that you cannot miss and definitely won't forget! It is completely different to any other festival that you have ever seen as the stages are on the sand. Crowds gather around the stages on sand and also in the sea! The atmosphere and ambience at the concert is buzzing! The gig usually kicks off at 7pm every Wednesday on the select dates and runs through until 12pm. (After which you can always head to the local pubs which don't close until 2am!)
This is the only music festival in France to take over a public beach and host such a great event on the sandy beach dance floors of the edge of the Mediterranean Sea. DJ's and live bands playing all kinds of music such as, Pop, Rap, Disco, Rave, Electro, Techno, House and many more mixes and genres. Introducing a new genre and theme evening which will be heading the last night of Les Plages Electroniques is an 'Electropicale' night (Electronic-Tropical). Featuring two DJ sets with a twist - this should be an interesting one to see!
The beach of the Palais in Cannes is packed full of a flood of bright colours. People with glow sticks, bouncing in beachwear or dressed up in the craziest outfits, glow in the dark rave paint on their faces and bodies drinking and dancing. At the festival there are bands and DJ's that play more of the dance, techno and rave genre side of music. There is an incredible amount of people who attend with people from ages ranging from 16 to 40 the lively atmosphere is addictive, you will want to attend every night!
Transport to and from the event is easy. Trains run from all along the line through Antibes to Cannes every twenty minutes, also busses from Antibes bus station to Cannes run until around 9pm at night and you can find all timetables online. From Cannes town, next to the train station they will be running a night bus for the way home - the number 200 that runs from Cannes back to Antibes from 9pm until 2am!
So kick your shoes off, put your feet in the sand (or sea)! Get your bikini on and dance the night away to the most amazing beach experience you will ever have!
