Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) have become standard equipment on most large yachts. While many systems appear user-friendly at first glance, they possess numerous capabilities that require training for effective use. Moreover, there are inherent risks associated with these capabilities, necessitating navigators to undergo specialized training to mitigate potential hazards. Consequently, the 2010 ’Manila Amendments’ of STCW95 mandated ECDIS training for deck Certificate of Competency (CoC) holders.

Our course is fully compliant with the stipulations and is endorsed by the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA). Over the span of five days, participants receive comprehensive theoretical instruction on ECDIS operation principles, coupled with hands-on practical training using our navigation simulator.

This course fulfils the legal obligation for ’generic’ training and has been designated a mandatory module for Officer of the Watch (Yachts) and Chief Mate ranks and above since January 1st, 2014.

In the interim, any deck CoC issued to an Officer of the Watch and above before December 31st, without ECDIS provision, will bear the endorsement ’Not for use on ECDIS fitted ships after January 1st, 2017’.

This course is fully redeemable with your ONE Account vouchers.
