Fifty years ago, David King, an ex-Naval Officer, founded Marine Projects in a rented shed based in Plymouth, England with two friends. Due to David’s incredible innovation, passion and dedication, the shipyard developed into one of the most successful and sophisticated motor yacht builders in the world and has elevated the British Marine Industry to new heights.

In August 2001 Marine Projects became Princess Yachts International and currently occupies 6 sites in and around Plymouth, employing over 2,400 people and building over three hundred yachts annually. Princess has produced numerous quality vessels since they began building boats in 1965 and is responsible for some of the most ground breaking and iconic models winning a number of superyacht industry awards. 

It is important to note that 80% of every Princess Yacht is constructed in-house. Every aspect of the conception, design, build, and ultimately use, of every Princess Yacht is at the very frontier of what is technically possible today. Cutting edge precision, composite construction and resin infusion technology reduces weight increasing fuel efficiency and performance whilst maximising interior volume. Stiffer, stronger superstructures grant larger glazed areas gifting the interiors more light and panoramic views. Princess deep V hulls deliver the finest sea keeping and ride, ensuring guests and crew are kept comfortable and safe. The attention to detail of every aspect of the yacht is only equaled by its outstanding engineering and build quality.

From the company's first sports boat; the 286 Riviera, to the Princess 65 which became the company's flagship in 1990, the shipyard now produces a range of 23 models ranging from 40 to 135 feet. With Princess Yachts “Quality isn’t a Checklist” which is why after 50 years they are very popular and highly sought-after vessels.
