Why charter in Fiji

Fiji is a country of more than 300 islands, 500 islets and 1000 coral reefs. With only 1 in 3  islands inhabited, Fiji is an explorer’s dream — a dream that can only properly be accomplished on a luxury yacht with all the fine dining, lavish cabins and exciting watertoys you could desire. Divers will be in their element. Fiji’s volcanic geology has created underwater caves, swim-through passages and drop-offs that just beg to be explored, with turtles, dolphins and tropical fish in huge numbers. There are also shipwrecks, 30 kilometre drift dives and a B26 bomber plane sinking into the sandy sea floor.

Island-Hopping Through Fiji’s Natural Wonders

Those wishing to stay close to the spa resorts and more well-known lagoons will want to cruise the Mamanuca and Yasawa archipelagos. In the east, Tavenui, ‘Garden Island’ is  like somewhere out of a dream, while the Lau islands  are home to the limestone outcrops of Vanua Balavu, Bay of Islands. The colours of the water here are simply astonishing, as you float across emeralds and sapphires and aquamarines so vivid that they almost beggar belief. To the south lies the exquisite diving of the Great Astrolabe Reef, where manta rays float through the pristine waters.

When to charter

The best time to charter a yacht in Fiji is the dry season, which runs between May and October. During this time there is less humidity, calm seas, great visibility, and rainfall is mostly limited to brief tropical downpours.  April is also considered a good month to travel to Fiji as it comes at the very end of the wet season when the rain and humidity has typically tapered off and the landscapes are lush and green. The temperature is warm to hot in Fiji year round, with average winter temperatures of 25 degrees and summer temperatures rising up to 31. Cyclone season runs between November and April in Fiji.

Best time for diving charters

There’s no such thing as a bad month for diving in Fiji! Diving visibility is good year-round but best in the dry season. April-May offers some of the best diving conditions of the year, with visibility up to 30m and thriving corals and fish populations. June-July are peak months for shark sightings and visibility as the water cools down, while the warming waters in September bring a mix of good coral conditions and large marine mammals. For manta ray encounters, October is your best best of all. Nov-Feb does have reduced visibility, but the wet season also brings an explosion of life to the reefs. March is a transition month with warm sea temps and improved visibility.
