ISLAND DREAMING

Fall inside the film set

A French Polynesia yacht charter is what superyacht dreams are made of. A tropical paradise of emerald peaks and turquoise lagoons, French Polynesia is made up of over 100 islands, including the near-mythical gems of Moorea, Bora Bora and Tahiti. On a luxury yacht charter in French Polynesia you’ll float between low-lying coral atolls, and lush, almost Jurassic-like landscapes carved by ancient volcanoes. Live it up at glamorous resorts with overwater spas, or escape into the distant blue for island-hopping heaven. Breathe in the scent of frangipani and coconut oil, tuck a hibiscus flower behind your ear, and drop anchor in French Polynesia.

Why charter in Frech Polynesia

How else to explore French Polynesia, than by luxury yacht? Pass your days diving for black pearls from an outrigger canoe, swimming with humpback whales, or enjoying a massage in a glass-floored bungalow perched over a coral reef. Swim off the yacht in a sapphire lagoon, or relax in a hammock slung between coconut palms, enjoying the gentle afternoon breeze that springs up off the water. Hike up into the jungle to bathe in a cool waterfall pool, surf the epic break at Teahupoo, or visit a stone temple to the Polynesian gods. A Tahiti superyacht charter isn’t just an ultra-luxury holiday, it’s the only way to truly do these islands justice.

Sailing from Bora Bora to the Tuamotus

Everyone has heard of the Society Islands, which include the shining stars of Moorea, Bora Bora and Tahiti. But venture beyond, and you’ll discover the Tuamotu Atolls — a low-lying paradise of lagoons and superb diving, and the mysterious Marquesas, where the islands are steeped in Polynesian legends. Around 1,000 miles southeast of Tahiti, The Gambier Islands are tightly clustered around one exquisite lagoon, with the main island, Magareva, said to be raised from the bottom of the ocean by demi-god Maui. The Austral Islands lie roughly 400 miles southwest of Tahiti, and are a quiet haven of coconut palms and sugar white beaches, cave-riddled cliffs and sunlit lagoons.

Quiet Magic Months

When to charter

French Polynesia’s peak yachting season runs from May to October, with June to August the sweet spot. Expect balmy temperatures of 25–29°C (77–84°F), low humidity, and clear skies. The trade winds make for great sailing, water visibility is excellent, and the surf is at its best. From July to October, you might even spot humpback whales as they migrate through these turquoise waters.

Quiet Magic Months

While October marks the start of cyclone season, the risk remains low early in the month. For fewer crowds and dry, sunny days, September and April offer a magical window. These shoulder months are ideal for those seeking calm seas, Tahitian sunshine, and a little more privacy. It’s a chance to soak up French Polynesia’s beauty in peaceful anchorages and uncrowded lagoons.
